During Your Stay
If you are staying in on-campus housing, welcome packets and IAS ID cards can be picked up at the reception desk in Fuld Hall. The reception desk is located to the right upon entering the main door of Fuld Hall.
If you arrive between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday), you may collect your packet from the receptionist on duty.
If you arrive after 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday) or at any time on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, you may collect your packet from the public safety officer on duty. If the public safety officer is not present at the reception desk when you arrive, you may use the telephone on the desk in the lobby to contact them by dialing 5460. You can also reach them by calling 609-947-5940. If you reach a voice mailbox, please leave a message. The public safety officer will come to Fuld Hall generally within 15 minutes of a call.
Your IAS ID card is your entrance key for your on-campus apartment and academic buildings, so please carry it with you at all times. After you pick up your ID card and welcome packet, please go directly to your apartment or, if you are staying off campus, report to your conference organizer or registration desk.
The ID card is an encrypted multi-function card. It is issued to individuals requiring access to buildings in Member housing or on the academic campus. Cardholders on campus for thirty days or more may have the card provisioned to charge meals in Simons Hall. The issuance of a card for a stay of thirty days or more requires a photograph of the cardholder. An ID card automatically reactivates if the cardholder returns to IAS for future visits. If you are visiting for a conference or workshop, you may receive a conference name badge in addition to or instead an IAS ID card. Please wear your conference name badge at all times. The badge, distributed at registration, lets IAS staff know you are cleared to be on campus, and alerts Dining Services that you should be allowed access to the breakfast and lunch servery.
Wi-Fi is accessible anywhere on campus using “IAS” or “eduroam” networks. Access to the wireless networks requires a brief registration process. The Institute campus and housing areas are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the staff is happy to arrange additional accommodations as needed. An ATM is located in the basement of Fuld Hall (just downstairs from the receptionist office). The Institute does not charge a service charge at this machine but your financial institution might.
Meals are prepared daily by the IAS Dining Services Monday-Friday. If you are attending a School conference or workshop your meals may be provided. If not, you may pay for your meals by credit card, debit card, or Apple/Google pay only.
Please note you will need to make your own dining arrangements on weekends and outside operation hours.

Continental breakfast is served in the Simons Hall servery from 8 - 11 a.m., Monday- Friday
Pricing is a la carte.
Lunch
Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Simons Hall servery, Monday - Friday and includes a selection of hot entrees, sandwiches, soup and salads, and desserts. Pricing is ala carte. Click here to see the daily lunch menu.
Grocery convenience food items are available for purchase in the servery.
Vending machines with soda and snacks are located at the bottom of the stairs on the lower level of Fuld Hall and in the laundry facility which is in the Activities Center in the middle of the campus housing.
Afternoon Tea in the Fuld Hall Common Room
Available to visitors and the IAS community from 3 - 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday Afternoon Tea is available and includes freshly baked cookies, brewed coffee and tea service, and fresh fruit.
Rubenstein Commons
Limited breakfast (from 8 - 11 a.m.) and lunch options (from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) are available at the Rubenstein Commons Bar on Monday - Friday. Dinner, Drinks and Light Fare are available from 5 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday - Friday
Beverages
Wine, beer, and mixed drinks are available for purchase at the Bar
Princeton Restaurants and Entertainment
There are many diverse institutions and businesses that serve the needs of the Princeton community. One thing to be aware of is that the Institute is a 20-30 minute walk to downtown Princeton.. If you don't wish to walk you could call for an Uber/Lyft or you can take the IAS shuttle by way of an appointment app.

Coffee shops, restaurants and many shops are located in Palmer Square and along Nassau and Witherspoon Streets. Please check the website to see shop and restaurant hours.
Food Stores and Supermarkets
Instacart is a food delivery service.
McCaffrey’s (Princeton Shopping Center, 609-683-1600) is open seven days a week and has a full range of grocery items and prepared foods. The Institute Shuttle includes a stop at the Princeton Shopping Center.
ShopRite (Mercer Mall, 609-275-8555) is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. until midnight. It is a full service food store with a pharmacy and floral department. The Institute Shuttle includes a stop at this location.
Wawa (152 Alexander Street, 609-921-3677), open 24 hours, is a convenience store located near the Princeton train station. Wawa sells coffee, drinks, sandwiches and salads, basic groceries, and telephone debit cards. It is equipped with an automatic teller machine (ATM).
Wegmans (Nassau Park Boulevard, 609-919-9300) is open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. until midnight and has a full range of grocery items, prepared foods, and pharmacy. A wine and spirits shop is located adjacent to Wegmans. The Institute Shuttle includes a stop at Wegmans.
Whole Foods Market (Windsor Green Shopping Center, 609-799-2919) is a supermarket that also offers cooking classes and other family activities. The Institute Shuttle includes a stop at the Market.
The Institute provides free shuttle service between the Institute, Palmer Square, Princeton University, Nassau Park, and the Mercer Mall for members of the Institute Community. The scheduled service runs Monday through Friday. A copy of the shuttle schedule can be downloaded below. Passengers must make a reservation below to ride the shuttle. The laundry facility is located in the Activities Building in the center of the housing complex and is equipped with washers and dryers available for use 24 hours a day. The Activities Building, which houses the laundry facility, will automatically lock between the hours of 5:30 pm and 7:00 am each weekday and will be locked 24 hours on weekends and holidays. Your Institute identification card is automatically programmed for access to the Activities Building, the laundry room, and to the lounge. During regular business hours, however, the doors will remain unlocked and the identification card will not be required for access.
Our laundry facility has commercial-grade front-loading machines that use less water and energy. The machines will accept multiple forms of payment, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and mobile payments. Users can also download the Kiosoft CleanPay App for enhanced features, account management, and to start the machines with their cell phones.
The cost to use a washer is $2.50 per load. The cost to use a dryer is $2.50 per load.
The Institute's fitness center is a light cardiovascular exercise facility with a variety of exercise equipment as well as shower facilities. The center is accessible 24 hours a day with an activated Institute ID card and is free of charge. For reasons of liability, access is only available to adults over the age of 18 who are affiliated with the Institute. Completion of a waiver application is required prior to card activation.
Lighted Tennis and pickleball courts are located behind the playground on Goldman Lane with parking available behind the ECP Building (225 S. Olden Lane). The courts are accessible to any Institute affiliate with a valid ID card. Due to a noise ordinance, playtime on these courts is limited from 7:00 AM until 10:00 PM each day. Court use is first-come, first-served basis. If you plan to use the courts in the evening, members of the IAS community can turn the tennis court lights on by themselves using their ID cards. To access the light controls, present a valid IAS ID card to the control box card reader located on the northeast corner of the garage building. Instructions to turn on the tennis court lights are located on the gray box mounted on the wall. If you have any problems or questions, you may contact Public Safety (609-947-5940) to have the lights turned on.

Off-hour emergencies: During evenings, weekends, and holiday closings, emergency maintenance needs should be reported to the Public Safety Officer on duty in Fuld Hall (ext. 8241 or 609-947-5940).
The Institute does not provide or endorse any form of babysitting services, which are generally acquired through private arrangements with local teens and other caregivers.
Babysitters can also be identified through third party websites, such as Care.com and https://www.jovie.com/locations/nj/princeton/jovie-of-princeton.html. These sites have no Institute affiliation and are not endorsed by IAS.
