ID Cards

The ID card is an encrypted multi-function card. It is issued to people requiring access to buildings in Member Housing or on the academic campus. Cardholders on campus for thirty days or more may have the card provisioned to charge meals in Simons Hall, and to charge the use of the machines in our laundry facility in Members Housing. The issuance of a card for a stay of thirty days or more requires a photograph of the cardholder. An ID card automatically reactivates if the cardholder returns to IAS for future visits.

To obtain a photo I.D. card (Members and Visitors)

ID Cards may be obtained in the Administrative Services area in the lower level of Fuld Hall. Photos for new ID cards may be taken before 4 PM, every business day.

To obtain a photo I.D. card (family cards and guests of Members and Visitors)

Photo Identification Card Programmed Access

Members and Visitors are granted standard permissions to access their apartment door and to enter campus buildings. Other restricted areas may be accessed if authorized. Cardholders can have access to the Fitness Center with the submission of a waiver and Piano Room by requesting such access by sending an email request to idcards@ias.edu.

Photo ID cards are issued to those here for more than 30 days, and permit the cardholder to charge meals in Simons Hall. Family members can use their photo ID cards in the dining facility as well, provided that this use is approved by the primary card holder.

Problems with Temporary Door Access Cards or Photo ID Cards

Problems with ID cards can be addressed by emailing idcards@ias.edu.

Expiration

Faculty and staff ID cards will expire and be replaced after five years, ensuring that photos are updated periodically. Member cards will have expiration dates tied to the end date of their visit, as specified in the P3 database. ID cards are automatically updated when visitor data has changed.

Charges

Members, Visitors, and Visiting Associates are provided an ID card. There will be a charge for replacement cards. The current cost of an ID card is $10.

All partners and family members are eligible for photo ID cards upon request free of charge but will be charged a $10 fee for a replacement card.

Lost or Stolen I.D. card

If an ID card is lost or stolen, it must be reported to IAS Public Safety immediately by email publicsafety@ias.edu, or by telephone at extension 5460. The original card will be disabled immediately, and a new card will be issued to replace it.
