Visiting Professor in the School of Natural Sciences Receives State Prize of the Russian Federation
Rashid Sunyaev, Visiting Professor in the School of Natural Sciences and Director of the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, has received the State Prize of the Russian Federation in Science and Technology. Sunyaev receives this award jointly with Nikolay Shakura, Professor of Astrophysics at Moscow State University, for their 1973 paper, "Black Holes in Binary Systems. Observational Appearance."
