Robert P. Langlands Appointed Companion of the Order of Canada

Robert P. Langlands, Professor Emeritus in the School of Mathematics, has been appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada.

The highest of the three grades of the Order, the rank of Companion recognizes national pre-eminence or international service or achievement. Langlands is cited specifically for "his revolutionary contributions to the field of mathematics, notably as the founder of the Langlands Program, which has pushed boundaries and inspired mathematicians worldwide."

Langlands will be formally invested into the Order during a ceremony taking place November 21, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Rideau Hall in Ottawa, Canada.
