“Einstein and Hawking: Unlocking the Universe” Premiering March 10th on the Science Channel

Albert Einstein, IAS Founding Faculty member, and Stephen Hawking are two of the most influential scientific figures in recent history, contributing enormously to our current understanding of the universe. As the one-year anniversary of Hawking’s death approaches, the Science Channel will air a two-hour special program, featuring IAS Director and Leon Levy Professor Robbert Dijkgraaf, former Member Brian Greene, and other leading physicists, who will explore the groundbreaking insights of Einstein and Hawking from the Big Bang to black holes.

Einstein and Hawking’s equations provide startling clarity into the dynamic nature of our universe, which Dijkgraaf explains during the program. Although there are many unanswered questions, physicists are forging ahead in the tradition of Einstein and Hawking to realize the dream of a unified theory of quantum gravity that promises to once again upend current conceptions of the universe.

Be sure to tune into the Science Channel on March 10, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. to watch the premiere, which commemorates the life of Stephen Hawking and shares a remarkable story of imagination and discovery.
