HS-SS Library renovation information

Most of the library's book collections remain accessible during the renovation of the Historical Studies-Social Science Library.

  • The books have been moved 4 miles away to the Educational Testing Service (ETS) campus, into McBride Hall.

  • Books may be requested to be brought to campus for you, pick up is in B101. We have a form for these requests or please speak with a library staff member if you have a longer list. https://www.ias.edu/form/mcbride-request
  • Recently received books and journals are available for you to use on the Institute campus in B101, which is the library hub on campus. Your Institute card should open the door if it is locked.
  • B101 will be staffed, should staff not be present there are phone numbers listed that you may call for assistance.
  • Our interlibrary loan and Firestone Courier Services continue to function as they did before the renovation, all materials are made available in B101 upon their arrival on campus.
  • Materials that are not accessible include the reference collection and bound journals, these are marked in our catalog.
  • The Institute offers a shuttle for individuals who need a ride to the ETS campus.
  • We welcome you to the library and are able to offer private offices to Members, Visitors, and their partners.
  • McBride Hall's main door is locked, per ETS' rules, however we have a doorbell installed and have a few IDs that will open the door to loan out. Please speak with the Librarian for more information.
