Important Notices for J-1 Exchange Visitor Scholars:

Prior to international travel, please contact the Visa and Visitor Services Office to have your form DS2019 signed to permit reentry into the United States. A signed DS2019 and a valid visa stamp are required for reentry. A visa stamp can only be obtained from a consulate's office outside of the United States. When applying for a new visa stamp, please be advised that significant delays may be experienced due to the changing immigration laws.

Prior to giving a lecture at an institution outside of the Institute, please provide the Visa and Visitor Services Office with information about the invitation so the appropriate documentation can be completed.

Important Notice for Visa Wavier Program Travelers:

All foreign nationals planning to enter the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) will be required to register for online travel clearance through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/. Travelers should submit their applications well in advance of travel, and no later than 72 hours before departing for the United States.

In addition to obtaining an ESTA clearance, a Visa Waiver traveler must ensure that his or her passport complies with program requirements. Passport requirements differ based on the traveler's country of citizenship and the date the passport was issued. Please consult the website of the US consulate located in your home country for further details at: www.usembassy.gov/.
