Thiago Nascimento Krause is researching the global history of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil's first capital, from 1549 to 1763. The book project is coauthored with Christopher Ebert (Brooklyn College, CUNY) and focuses on commodity chains, slavery, and trans-imperial connections to examine the making of early capitalism in the Global South.
