My current research traces the evolution of medieval studies in modern China. During my stay at the IAS, I will complete a book on the adaptation of the European Middle Ages by Chinese historians from the 1920s to 1940s. It shows how historians "medievalized" their country's past and thereby revolutionized historical time and temporality.
