Benjamin Matthew Barson

Benjamin Barson is a historian, saxophonist-composer, and musicologist. At the Institute for Advanced Study, he will work on a book project tracing jazz, radio, and Black internationalist politics across the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean, with particular attention to Cuba, Haiti, and New Orleans between 1898 and 1959.
