My research program explores the working hypothesis that a science of mind can be developed on a par with the natural sciences and grounded in the same core principles, with the longer-term aim of investigating whether the two can be connected into a single science of reality (see my IAS Scholars page for more details). I refer to this program as FEST (Fully Empirical Science and Technology). For an overview of my other interests, see Activities. After starting my appointment at IAS in 1985 as Professor of Astrophysics, I became the Head of the Program in Interdisciplinary Studies from 2002 to 2023. For a flavor, see this IAS newsletter essay; a paper I wrote with two IAS postdocs; and an review of my interdisciplinary program, written by some of my visitors. |
