Mat Carbon is interested in ancient history, particularly Greek inscriptions and cultural interactions in the Mediterranean. At the IAS, Carbon will be completing a co-authored corpus of the inscriptions of ancient Halikarnassos (modern Bodrum in Türkiye). Famous in antiquity, this city has never been the subject of a systematic study.
