Elizabeth C. Mansfield will work on a book tentatively titled "Picture This: Realism and the Empirical Imagination," which aims to reorient art historical understanding of the nineteenth-century Realist movement by approaching it historically via the Enlightenment rather than as an inchoate expression of avant-garde modernism.
