Frederic Clark is a cultural and intellectual historian who specializes in the afterlife of classical antiquity in medieval and early modern Europe, the history of historical thought, and the history of books and reading. While at IAS, he will work on a book that traces both ideas of context and practices of contextualization across a millennium of Latin sources and beyond, tentatively titled, In Context: A History of Contextual Interpretation from Ancient Rome to Early Modern Humanism.
