Stavros Niarchos Foundation Supports Membership for Greek Citizens at the Institute for Advanced Study

With support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the Institute for Advanced Study will host a Membership for Greek citizens in the academic year 2020–21. The SNF’s grant aims to provide opportunities for researchers from Greece, particularly at the junior level, and generate greater awareness among Greek scholars of the Membership program at IAS.

The SNF Membership will be awarded to a junior scholar who is a Greek citizen and has been selected for Membership in any of the IAS’s four Schools, with priority given to the School of Historical Studies. In the event that no scholar who fits these criteria is selected, the Membership will be awarded to a Greek citizen at any career level. If the selected Member returns to Greece after the conclusion of their residence at the IAS, an additional $20,000 in support from the SNF will be provided for the continuation of their research in Greece.

Scholars who hold Greek citizenship are invited to apply for Membership. Information on the application procedure in the four Schools can be found here: School of Historical Studies (deadline: October 15, 2019); School of Mathematics (deadline: December 1, 2019); School of Natural Sciences (deadline: November 15, 2019); and School of Social Science (deadline: November 1, 2019).

Inquiries can be addressed to Professor Angelos Chaniotis, School of Historical Studies (achaniotis@ias.edu).
