Stavros Niarchos Foundation Supports Membership for Greek Citizens at the Institute for Advanced Study

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has agreed to provide funds to support a Membership for Greek citizens at the Institute for Advanced Study in the academic year 2020–21. The purpose of this grant is to generate greater awareness among Greek scholars of the Membership program at the IAS and to provide opportunities especially for researchers at the junior level.

The SNF Membership will be awarded to a junior scholar who is a Greek citizen and has been selected for Membership in any of the IAS’s four Schools, with priority given to the School of Historical Studies. In the event that no scholar who fits these criteria is selected, the Membership will be awarded to a Greek citizen at any career level. If the selected Member returns to Greece after the conclusion of their residence at the IAS, an additional $20,000 in SNF funding will be given to support the continuation of their research in Greece.

Scholars who hold Greek citizenship are invited to apply for Membership. Information on the application procedure in the four Schools can be found here: School of Historical Studies (deadline: October 15, 2019); School of Mathematics (deadline: December 1, 2019);  School of Natural Sciences (deadline: November 15, 2019); and School of Social Science (deadline: November 1, 2019).

Inquiries can be addressed to Professor Angelos Chaniotis, School of Historical Studies (achaniotis@ias.edu).
