Myles W. Jackson To Give Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena Commencement Address

Myles W. Jackson, Professor in the School of Historical Studies, will give the commencement address at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena in Germany on June 28, 2019.

Jackson's lecture, “What Is, and to What End Do We Study, the History of Science” (titled after Friedrich Schiller's “What Is, and to What End Do We Study, Universal History”), will draw on three studies relevant to the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena community: lens making and the politics of craft knowledge; the exchange between musicians, physicists, physiologists, and radio engineers; and the politics of personal genomics companies and the ownership of personal identities and knowledge.
