The Ecosystem That Controls a Galaxy’s Future is Coming Into Focus

Of the Hubble Space Telescope, John Norris Bahcall, former Professor in the School of Natural Sciences, and colleagues wrote, “What is at stake is not only a piece of stellar technology but our commitment to the most fundamental human quest: understanding the cosmos. . . . Hubble’s most important discoveries could be in the future.”

Following its successful repair in 2009, Hubble made the circumgalactic medium census possible, helping scientists to tackle long-standing cosmic questions.
