Eva Illouz Receives 2018 EMET Prize

Eva Illouz, Member in the School of Social Science, has been awarded a 2018 EMET Prize for Science, Art and Culture in Social Sciences.

Sponsored by the A.M.N. Foundation for the Advancement of Science, Art and Culture in Israel, under the auspices of and in cooperation with the Prime Minister of Israel, the prize recognizes Illouz's "groundbreaking insights into formation of the self in contemporary capitalist society and for the formulation of key concepts that have become milestones in international sociological thought."

Illouz continues work on the self at IAS as part of a project that critically evaluates the moral norm of emotional authenticity as it has been fashioned by consumer culture.
