Michael G. Hanchard Wins 2019 Bunche Award

Michael G. Hanchard, Member (2014–15) in the School of Social Science, has been awarded the 2019 Ralph J. Bunche Award for The Spectre of Race: How Discrimination Haunts Western Democracy (Princeton University Press, 2018).

Conferred by the American Political Science Association, the award recognizes The Spectre of Race as "an outstanding contribution to political science scholarship on racial and ethnic domination and hierarchy."

Hanchard is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
