Former Member Receives 2018 Chern Medal

Masaki Kashiwara, former Member in the School of Mathematics, has received the 2018 Chern Medal, which is awarded every four years to an individual whose accomplishments warrant the highest level of recognition for outstanding achievements in the field of mathematics. The International Mathematical Union and the Chern Medal Foundation jointly recognize Kashiwara for his foundational contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory sustained over a period of almost 50 years.
