Former Member Receives Grand Cross of the Order of Merit

Norman Birnbaum, Member (1975–76) in the School of Social Science and University Professor Emeritus at Georgetown University Law, has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Birnbaum's cultural and political memoir, From the Bronx to Oxford and Not Quite Back, set for release in January 2018 by New Academia Publishers, contains a recollection of his year at the Institute, which was late Director Carl Kaysen's final year in office.
