Eduroam Update Instructions
We believe that you may be impacted by the upcoming eduroam changes on Thursday, September 18, 2025. We have included some instructions below that will help you update the eduroam connection on your devices.
iOS
- Open the “Settings” app
- From the left side of the screen, select “Wi-Fi”
- Tap the “i” next to “eduroam”
- Select “Forget This Network”
- Search for “eduroam” on the App Store
- Download the “geteduroam” app
- Open the “geteduroam” app
- Search for “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Tap on the entry for “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Tap “Agree”
- Enter your IAS email address and passphrase
- Select “Log in”
- Select “Allow”
- Select “Join”
Android
- From your device’s Wi-Fi settings, “Forget” the eduroam network
- The steps for this may vary by device
- Search for “eduroam” in the Google Play Store
- Download the “geteduroam” app
- Open the “geteduroam” app
- Search for “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Tap on the entry for “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Select “Agree”
- Enter your IAS email address and passphrase
- Tap “Log in”
- Tap “Save”
macOS
- At the top left of the screen, click the Apple icon
- From the menu that appears, select “System Settings…”
- From the left side of the Settings window, select “Privacy & Security”
- On the right side of the Settings window, scroll to the bottom and select “Profiles”
- Click on the profile labeled “eduroam”
- At the bottom of the list of profiles, click the “-”
- Click “Remove”
- Enter your laptop’s password
- Connect to the IAS wireless network
- Open a web browser (e.g. Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
- Go to https://cat.eduroam.org
- Click on the blue button labeled “Click here to download your eduroam installer”
- Select “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Click the large blue button labeled “eduroam”
- Open the file that you downloaded
- You should get a notification at the top right corner of your screen labeled “Profile Installation”
- At the top left of the screen, click the Apple icon
- From the menu that appears, select “System Settings…”
- From the left side of the Settings window, select “Privacy & Security”
- On the right side of the Settings window, scroll to the bottom and select “Profiles”
- Double-click on the profile labeled “eduroam”
- Select “Install…” at the bottom left of the window
- Select “Continue”
- Enter your IAS email address and passphrase
- Click “Install”
- Click “Install”
- Enter your laptop’s password
Windows 11
- Open the “Settings” app
- From the left side of the window, select “Network & internet”
- Select “Wi-Fi”
- Select “Manage known networks”
- Click the “Forget” button next to “eduroam”
- Connect to the IAS wireless network
- Open a web browser
- Go to https://geteduroam.app
- Click on the “Windows” button
- Select “Intel/AMD”
- Open the file that you downloaded
- Click “Connect to eduroam”
- Search for “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Select “Institute for Advanced Study”
- Click “Next”
- Click “Next”
- If required, click the “Install” button next to “Ias Certificate Authority”
- Then click “Yes” in the new window that appears
- Click “Next”
- Enter your IAS email address and passphrase
- Click “Connect”
Windows 10
