(dis)honesty

In this public lecture, held at the Institute on May 9, 2014, Dan Ariely, Visitor (2006–07) and Member (2005) in the School of Social Science, discussed how the principles of behavioral economics can help us understand some of our irrational tendencies, specifically the mechanisms at work behind dishonest behavior. He examined how the implications of his research regarding our capacity to think of ourselves as honest even when we act dishonestly are far reaching and lead to better understanding of the most recent financial crisis and some of the challenges in healthcare.
