Founders Louis Bamberger and Caroline Bamberger Fuld, brother-and-sister philanthropists, endowed the Institute in 1930 to enable the world’s leading scholars to pursue “advanced learning and exploration in fields of pure science and high scholarship.” So began a tradition of giving that has built a thriving international community of scholars. A permanent Faculty of distinguished scholars is joined each year by more than two hundred visiting Members who come to the Institute to pursue curiosity-driven research in the sciences and humanities. The fundamental research that takes place at the Institute expands our understanding of the world, leading to both cultural and practical benefits for humanity. The vision of the Institute’s Founders is as vital today as it was more than eighty years ago.

Your gift to the Institute is vital for ensuring that the Institute continues to fulfill its essential role for generations to come.
