Princeton University/Institute for Advanced Study Early Universe/Cosmology Lunch Discussion

On Improving of the Models of Cosmic Reionization

Organizers are David Spergel, Princeton University, and Matias Zaldarriaga, Institute for Advanced Study. The lunch will be held at either Princeton University or the Institute for Advanced Study. Check the calendar for the meeting location. This week's meeting is at the Institute for Advanced Study. Attendees can bring their own lunch or stop at the IAS Dining Hall. The West Seminar room is in a building which is a short walk from the main dining area. ABSTRACT: The upcoming decade will bring many observations of the epoch of cosmic reionization. Those will be comprised of surveys of the high redshift galaxies, including Lyα emitters; 21 cm global signal and tomography experiments; improved CMB polarization measurements; and the ionization state of the IGM through observations of high-z quasars spectra. For theoreticians it is a great challenge to combine this diverse information into one self-consistent and computationally feasible theoretical model of reionization. I would like to discuss what options exist to improve our analytical and numerical models, how we can constrain the parameters of the cosmic reionization, and what these parameters actually are.
