Astroparticle Physics Special Seminar

Antimatter was one of the main predictions of relativistically invariant quantum theory. Production and detection of antiparticles took place during the last century, mostly in the high energy regime. Neutral antimatter systems were first produced in 1996 at high energy at CERN and at Fermilab. Low energy (sub-thermal) antimatter was produced in 2002 and antihydrogen was confined for the first time in 2011. This research opens the way to a new frontier: the study of fundamental laws (CPT and the Weak Equivalence Principle) with antihydrogen.
