Join Maria Loh, Professor in the School of Historical Studies, and Marissa Moorman, George F. Kennan Member in the School of Historical Studies, for a screening of The Secret Agent starring Wagner Moura, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho. This political thriller (R-rated) was a three-time winner at the Cannes Film Festival, winning for Best Actor, Best Director, and the FIPRESCI Prize. It is also a three-time Academy Awards nominee—for Best Picture, Best International Feature, and Best Actor.

"Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a technology expert in his early 40s, is on the run. Hoping to reunite with his son, he travels to Recife during Carnival but soon realizes that the city is not the safe haven he was expecting."
