Fireside Play Reading
Fireside Play Reading
Arcadia by Tom Stoppard (1993)
Tuesday, March 17, 2026 | 7:00 p.m.
Fuld Hall Common Room
Play Reading is a popular activity that brings the Institute community together to read plays. The group meets at 7:00 p.m. on several evenings during the year in the Fuld Hall Common Room. The readings are not performances, so you do not need to be experienced. Everyone is given a part to read, but if you prefer to just listen, come and sit back with a glass of wine and some nibbles and enjoy the evening. All are warmly welcome!
Set across two time periods, Stoppard's highly acclaimed, quick-witted play follows the intersecting lives of inhabitants of a country estate in 1809 and modern-day researchers investigating the estate’s history. Blending elements of intellectual inquiry with romantic comedy, Arcadia explores the relationship between past and present, order and disorder, certainty and uncertainty, and their deceptive pathways.
