Fireside Play Reading

Play reading flyer

Play Reading is a popular activity that brings the IAS community together to read plays. The group meets at 7:00 pm on several evenings during the year in the Fuld Hall Common Room. The readings are not performances, so you need not be experienced. Everyone is given a part to read, but if you prefer to just listen to the play instead of reading a role, come and sit back with a glass of wine and some nibbles and enjoy the evening. All are warmly welcome!

We will be reading Legacy of Light (2009) by Karen Zacarías. In present-day Princeton an astrophysicist is discovering new planets while dreaming of motherhood. In 18th century Pairs, Emily du Châtelet, a brilliant mathematician and physicist whose genius inspired the work of Voltaire and paved the way for Einstein's Theory of Relativity, is running out of time to publish her scientific discoveries before her baby arrives. Across the ages, but under the same star-filled sky their stories intertwine in this bright and funny play about life, the universe and the legacy we leave behind.
