Haiwei Liu

Haiwei Liu's research focuses on the political and social history of imperial China. At IAS, he will work on his book manuscript, The New Mandate of Heaven: Changing Narratives of Political Legitimacy in Song-Yuan-Ming China, 960–1644. This study explores the fundamental transformation of Chinese political culture during these periods, with particular emphasis on the impact of the Mongol conquest on China.
