Princeton University Department of Astrophysical Sciences Bohdan Paczyński Visitor Lecture Series - Space Astrometry, Exoplanets & Optical Photon Detection

Topics in Optical Photon Detection

This talk will survey the methods that are available for the detection of optical photons, and explain why CCDs are not the ultimate detector for optical astronomy. Prof. Perryman will describe his own contributions to the possibilities of superconducting tunnel junctions, and will touch on some other developments in optical photon detection.
