The Variable Universe - A Celebration of Bohdan Paczyński

During this three-day event, we will celebrate Bohdan Paczynski's life and his major contributions to many branches of astrophysics. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 28 in the Princeton University Chapel, and a two-day symposium covering the many areas Bohdan contributed to will follow on the Princeton University campus on Saturday and Sunday. Talks will be given by nine invited speakers, and space will be provided to accommodate poster presentations by participants. Topics to be covered include: Stellar Evolution, Variable Stars, Accretion Disks, Gamma-Ray Bursts, MACHOs, and Gravitational Micro-Lensing. Invited speakers are: Marek Abramowicz (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden); Charles Alcock (Harvard-Smithsonian CfA, USA); Andrew Gould (Ohio State University, USA); Chryssa Kouveliotou (NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, USA); Tsvi Piran (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel); Grzegorz Pojmański (Warsaw University Observatory, Poland); George Preston (Carnegie Observatories, USA); Virginia Trimble (UC Irvine, USA); and Andrzej Udalski (Warsaw University Observatory, Poland).
