Former Member Awarded Archaeological Institute of America's Top Book Prize

The Archaeological Institute of America has awarded its 2020 James R. Wiseman Book Award to The Iranian Expanse: Transforming Royal Identity through Architecture, Landscape, and the Built Environment, 550 BCE–642 CE (University of California Press, 2018) by Matthew P. Canepa, Member (2016) in the School of Historical Studies.

Canepa, who is currently Elahé Omidyar Mir-Djalali Presidential Chair in Art History and Archaeology of Ancient Iran at the University of California, Irvine, completed The Iranian Expanse during his 2016 Membership at IAS.

The award will be presented on January 4, 2020, at a ceremony during the Archaeological Institute of America's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
