Join us for a special teatime program for IAS Staff with Professor Tadashi Tokieda who will use various office supplies to explore a sequence of magic tricks.
Tadashi Tokieda, Professor of Mathematics at Stanford University, likes applying mathematics to physics, and applying physics to mathematics. His interests include inventing, collecting, and studying toys. He grew up as a painter in Japan and later was educated as a classical philologist in France before becoming a mathematician. He is known for using innocent-looking everyday objects to reveal underlying mathematical surprises.
