An evening with three remarkable performers who are also three acclaimed and thoughtful composers. Headlined by Vijay Iyer—pianist, composer, Macarthur Prize winner, Harvard professor—all the members of this ensemble are equally esteemed. Linda May Han Oh has been the Jazz Journalist Association’s Bassist of the Year for many years running, percussionist Tyshawn Sorey has a Macarthur Prize of his own. Their music is dark, tuneful, restless and endlessly inventive, and their 2021 recording Uneasy was this past year’s Album of the Year.
