Computational Astrophysics Workshop Series - Note Time Change!

Gaussian Processes for Astronomers

In this session, I will introduce the method of Gaussian Process modeling, discuss reasons why an astronomer might care, and present some tips for using (and troubleshooting) this method in practice. We will then work through a Jupyter notebook that demonstrates the discussed topics. The material will be accessible and (hopefully!) interesting for participants with all levels of expertise in data analysis. The notebook can be found at https://github.com/dfm/gp and I recommend that all interested participants follow the instructions in the "Usage" section of the README to get the code installed before the session.
