Artist’s Talk: Video Work In Translation
Artist Hamdi Attia has a work-in-progress, Ready for Carpet Bombing, on display in the lobby of the Historical Studies-Social Science Library for a limited time.
Attia is also presenting a talk, Video Work in Translation, today (April 30) at 4 PM in the White-Levy Room, adjacent to the Historical Studies-Social Science Library.
Hamdi Attia examines the relationship between cartography, geography, the body, and power — using video, mapping, drawing, and sculpture. His work has been exhibited in Cairo, Amman, Doha, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Paris, Rome, Oslo, Bergen, Copenhagen, Basel, Zanzibar, and São Paulo. He studied at the College of Arts in Cairo and the Egyptian Academy of Arts in Rome, and received his MFA at the University of Pennsylvania.
