How to remotely wipe a mobile device that syncs with your Zimbra mailbox

ITG's Zimbra mail server allows users to remotely wipe any mobile device they have configured to sync with their IAS email, calendar, or contacts. This feature only works with devices that are configured to connect to the server using the ActiveSync protocol. Devices that use an IMAP connection to check IAS mail will not be able to be wiped.

Supported devices include iPhone, iPad, iPod, Windows Mobile devices, and Android-based devices.

  1. Log into the ITG Zimbra Webmail Client.
  2. Click on Preferences.
  3. Click on Mobile Devices in the left pane.
  4. Select the device to wipe and then click Wipe Device.
  5. Click OK to confirm that you want to wipe the selected device.


WARNING: The remote wipe process erases all data on the device—not just your IAS email, calendar, and contact information—and returns it to the original factory settings. Be very certain that you want to take this action.
