FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
- Apartments – Scholars will be housed on the Institute campus in our short-term housing units (STAH). Here is a link describing the units: https://www.ias.edu/campus/housing/short-term-academic-housing
- The earliest you may check in is Saturday, August 29; the latest you may stay is until Sunday, September 13.
- Companions – The program will be demanding and intensive. Please keep this in mind as you decide whether to have a spouse or companion join you. As noted above, the housing units can accompany 2 adults. Infants or children, however, cannot be accommodated.
- Meals – Most meals will be provided as part of the program. Some days, however – including the weekend -- you will be on your own. There are many restaurants in Princeton that are within walking distance of the Institute campus, and your per-diem will more than cover those expenses.
- Per Diem – Each scholar will receive $500 to cover any miscellaneous expenses while at the summer program.
- Travel – Professor Fassin’s academic assistant, Patrick Brown, will be in touch with you to coordinate travel arrangements and purchase your air tickets. The program will pay for one round-trip, economy-class air ticket from the location of your home institution. Should you wish to come early to the States, or stay longer, or arrive from/depart to a different location, let Patrick know that you wish to make your own arrangements. In those cases, we will reimburse you based upon our research into what the airfare would have been from your home institution.
- Airport Pick-up – For those of you coming directly to the Program and arriving on Saturday or Sunday, we will arrange for a car to meet you at the airport and bring you to the Institute. Those arriving in the States earlier for personal reasons will be expected to make their own way to Princeton in time for the Sunday afternoon registration.
