Travel and Arrival
- Directions to the Institute for Advanced Study
- Collecting Your ID Card/Apartment Key
- Visitor and Visa Services
Public Safety (x5460 or 609-947-5940)
The Institute Security Officer (guard) is accessible 24 hours/day at 609-947-5940, and can provide your apartment key. Their office is in Fuld Hall, and the phone across from that office can be used to place the call. The guard may very occasionally be unreachable if they are in the basement of another building. If that occurs, please wait in the Fuld Hall Common Room and try calling again in a few minutes.
Dining and Tea
We recommend bringing a travel coffee mug in order to use the filtered water refill stations and Keurig machines. Please note that both Simons Hall and Rubenstein Commons accept payment through credit/debit cards and Apple/Android Pay. No cash is accepted.
Office and Technology
- Please see your invitation letter for your assigned office or workspace.
- Office supplies are available near the 1st floor mailboxes in Fuld Hall and Simonyi Hall.
- The Math Computing Services webpage (help@math.ias.edu; x8012) provides information on connecting to Wi-Fi, printing, submitting help tickets, and more.
Shuttle
If you need to take the IAS Shuttle to and from town (including Palmer Square, Princeton University, Nassau Park, and Mercer Mall), complete these two steps:
- Ask your inviting Member to create a Sponsored Account for you. This will give you IAS account credentials for Appointments Plus.
- Use Appointments Plus to book your outbound trip and your return trip separately.
Laundry
If you need to do laundry during your visit, please visit Campus Housing - Laundry Facility for the location and payment method.
Check-Out
- If you are staying in IAS campus housing, please note they enforce a strict check-out time of 10:00 am to ensure that units can be cleaned in time for the next guest.
- If applicable, contact Accounts Receivable at acctrec@ias.edu to pay for your housing before you leave.
Reimbursements
- If you are eligible for reimbursement, send your completed reimbursement form and receipts to the Math Staff Member who arranged your visit.
- Direct Deposit Form: The direct deposit form is for those with a US bank account and prefer their reimbursement deposited into their bank account (instead of a paper check in the mail). Please fill out the form (typed) and send supplemental documentation (voided check or page from online banking that shows your name, account number and routing number) along with the completed reimbursement. This information is sensitive and should not be shared via email rather sent through a secure method such as Dropbox Transfer.
- Please note that per the Institute’s Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy, requests received more than 120 days after the date of travel cannot be reimbursed.
