Exploring the Infrared Structure of Massless Gauge Theories

Abstract: I will briefly review the factorisation of soft and collinear singularities in massless gauge theory amplitudes, and the structure of the soft anomalous dimension matrix. I will then discuss the implications of this factorisation for the problem of infrared subtraction at high orders, which is a very active area of research for precision phenomenology at colliders. Finally, I will present a recent theoretical development, showing that the infrared factor for a generic massless gauge theory amplitude, in the dipole approximation, but to all orders in perturbation theory, is given by a correlator of colorful vertex operators in a conformal field theory on the celestial sphere.
