Soft Theorem in Gravity from Soft-Collinear Effective Field Theory

Abstract: The amplitudes for soft gauge boson emission are related to the non-radiative amplitudes via soft theorem. The soft limit of gauge theories and perturbative gravity are surprisingly similar despite the different gauge structures. However, unlike in Yang-Mills gauge theories, collinear divergences do not manifest in gravity. In my talk, I will discuss the fundamental role of emergent gauge symmetries for soft-collinear effective field theory of gravity and how they constrain the structure of the subleading soft theorems. I will use effective field theory formalism to derive the subleading soft theorem and demonstrate its universal form.
