Princeton University Gravity Initiative Seminar Series

Bubbles of AdS as Black Hole Mimickers

Abstract: I will present a case for the striking resemblance between bubbles of anti-de Sitter (AdS) within Minkowski spacetime and black holes. These solutions of Einstein’s equations are motivated by high-energy physics and lack horizons. We will explore both stationary and rotating AdS bubbles, examining their distinct features. I will also touch upon potential observational signatures that could distinguish AdS bubbles from black holes in our universe.
