Abstract: The zeta-instanton equation (also known as Witten's d-bar equation) is a partial differential equation arising in two-dimensional supersymmetric field theory. In this talk I will review some of its properties and applications, from the categorification of wall-crossing formulas, to the physical construction of Khovanov homology.
