IAS CMP/QFT Group Meeting

Abstract: Given a (1+1)D CFT which admits a continuous family of conformal boundary conditions, I will describe a way to define a 2-form connection in the space of conformal boundary conditions, in terms of OPE coefficients of boundary-condition-changing operators. The definition is inspired by recent developments in condensed matter physics, in particular the study of “higher Berry phase” within the framework of tensor networks. In the context of string theory, it appears that this 2-form connection should be interpreted as the B-field as seen by D-branes.
