IAS Quantum Aspects of Black Holes Group Meeting

New Results on Wormholes and Averaging over N

Abstract: I will briefly review "Mellin averaging," a proposal (w/ E. Witten) for how the puzzling behavior of wormholes in AdS/CFT may be accounted for from the CFT. I will then describe work in progress (w/ X. Dong) on how Mellin averaging is related to more conventional N-averaging procedures and how this can be leveraged (w/ B. Labbedi) to prove that Mellin averaging a fixed (no ensemble) infinite matrix is dual to a simple model of 2D quantum gravity to all orders in the topological expansion.
