Lattice Models for U(1) Chern-Simons Theory
Abstract: I will present a class of exactly solvable lattice models of bosonic modes on the square lattice that realize chiral topological phases described by U(1)_{2n} Chern-Simons theory. The key ingredient is a factorization of the bosonic operator algebra into two invertible subalgebras, each of which admits an interpretation as a lattice discretization of RR Chern-Simons theory. I will then focus on one such subalgebra and discuss the low-energy physics on the interface between the U(1)_{2n} U(1)2n topological phase and a trivial phase. The talk is based on arXiv:2411.04993 and work in progress.
