Computing Servers

There are two computing servers available for any of your computing needs. They are named London and Surrey.

SSH is used for logging into the servers. You can use "ssh username@london.math.ias.edu" for London and "ssh username@surrey.math.ias.edu" for Surrey to gain access.

If you are trying to access the servers outside of the IAS campus you will need to go through ssh.math.ias.edu first. We do not allow direct access to the servers outside of campus. SSH tunneling can be used for convenience. You can learn more about SSH tunneling here.

We offer the following applications on the servers:

  • CGAL (only available on London)
  • FFTW
  • GSL (GNU Scientific Library)
  • Julia (only available on London)
  • Magma
  • OpenBLAS
  • Open MPI
  • PGPlot (only available on London)
  • Sage

The servers have the following hardware specifications:
London has an Intel Xeon Gold 6230 CPU with 2.10GHz and 80 cores, along with 512 GB of RAM.
Surrey has an Intel Xeon Silver 4316 CPU with 2.30 Ghz and 80 cores, along with 256 GB of RAM.

If you run into any issues or would like us to look into adding an application to the servers, please contact help@math.ias.edu.
