Subcritical Handle Attachment, Wrapped Floer Homology, and Applications in the Three-Body Problem
In this talk, I will explain how wrapped Floer homology can be used to detect certain periodic orbits and Reeb chords in the circular restricted three-body problem. The key input is the invariance of wrapped Floer homology under subcritical handle attachment, together with a regularization of the energy hypersurface below and slightly above the first critical value. As applications, I will describe the existence of consecutive collision orbits at the primaries (e.g., the Earth and the Moon), as well as the existence of a symmetric periodic orbit. This talk is based on joint work with Urs Frauenfelder.
