From Dust to Doctors: A Rutgers Scientist's Journey from Astrophysics to Healthcare
Bob Lindner is co-founder and Chief Science and Technology Officer at Veda Data Solutions, a healthcare AI startup. Bob is also an alumnus of the Rutgers astrophysics PhD program, where his research focused on observational cosmology, galaxy formation, galaxy clusters, and radio, infrared, and submillimeter deep galaxy surveys. Bob took a deep interest in scientific computational methods and machine learning, and he pivoted his career after a postdoc to co-found Veda Data Solutions and apply these techniques to a different system in severe need of innovation and modernization: the US healthcare system. Now millions of Americans use Veda's data every day to find care, and Veda has landed on the "Inc. 5000" list of fastest growing companies two years in a row.
Bob will talk about his journey from science to startups, what it's like to work as a scientist in industry, the science behind Veda's patented technologies, how Veda's astronomy roots continue to drive its innovative company culture, and ways he stays connected with science.
